Product Review: Kettle Cuisine Organic Mushroom and Potato Soup

Posted by: Marissa on Jan. 31, 2012

Kettle Cuisine has a whole line of gluten free soups that are frozen and ready to heat and eat. The line offers a lot of variety in terms of flavor and dietary needs. This particular flavor is vegetarian as well as being gluten free.

The packaging of these soups is incredibly helpful. Kettle Cuisine lists the calories, fat and fiber information right on the front of the box. Add this to the fact that the ingredients are all natural, organic and real and you have a product that leaves very little mystery as to what you are putting in your body.

Organic Mushroom and Potato Soup contains 140 calories, 8g fat and 4g fiber.

Ease of Use

The soup comes packaged in it’s own bowl, so it is easy to prepare. Just vent the plastic and heat for three to four minutes, stir and heat for up to one minute more. I heated my soup for three and a half minutes, stirred it and heated it for 45 more seconds.

Appearance

I have to admit that the soup has a striking appearance. It is a creamy white soup in a black bowl. There are also plenty of large chunks of mushrooms.

Taste and Texture

There are no chunks of potato in the soup. Instead, the potatoes have been cooked down to form the broth/base of the soup. It was delicious! It had a complex, buttery flavor filled out with herbs and spices. The mushrooms were chewy and flavorful. They added the perfect compliment to the potato base.

Versatility

Since this is a ready to eat product, there is not much room for versatility.

Overall Value

The suggested retail price for a 10oz. serving is $3.99.

Rating

I will buy this soup again. I was very surprised and pleased with the depth of flavor.
